THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPOINTS NEW COMMISSIONER TO
THE COMMISSION ON HIV
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced the following appointment on July
31, 2007
Los Angeles, CA - Following a recommendation from the Commission on HIV, the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors appointed Anthony Bongiorno as the new commissioner for
District 3 - SPA 5. He will be the consumer voice representing all individuals that access HIV
services within the area that spans from Malibu south to LAX, West to the Pacific Ocean, and
East to the 405 Freeway. The term shall last for a duration of two years. The Commission on
HIV is the primary community advisory mechanism on HIV-related matters to the Los Angeles
County Board of Supervisors.
Bongiorno, who is the President & Founder of The Friends of AIDS Foundation, has been
working with the HIV community since 2003. He has been a member of the Consumer Advisory
Board for Spa 5 since 2006 and has played a very active role in linking people to care
services, generating HIV awareness, and diligently working on issues to end the stigma
and discrimination towards people living with HIV/AIDS.
The SPA 5 CAB meeting takes place on the third Tuesday of each month at 2012 Lincoln Blvd.
