THE FRIENDS OF AIDS FOUNDATION DEBUTS NEWEST HIV PREVENTION PROGRAM

Los Angeles, CA – The Friends of AIDS Foundation (FOA) launches its newest HIV prevention
program “ the Hook Up” on June 29, 2007. The program is designed to bring attention to the
continuing spread of HIV and challenge Los Angeles County clubgoers to help bring an end to
this epidemic. Several entertainment organizers have teamed up with FOA to promote HIV
awareness and empower individuals to act responsibly when hooking up with someone at a
nightclub.

The Hook Up answers the call for a cutting edge approach to HIV prevention from community
leaders. With half of new infections occurring among people under 25, this program is vital in the
fight against this disease. “Previous prevention strategies in the United States  have been
exhausted and  the time has come for us to focus on new ways of delivering the crucial message
that HIV DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE” said Anthony Bongiorno, President & Founder of The
Friends of AIDS Foundation.

The Hook Up program focuses on the lifestyles of people into the club scene and addresses the
issues around sex, alcohol, drugs, and condom use while it raises important messages like
responsibility and communication. The Hook Up features a team of spokesmodels who will
establish a regular presence in nightclubs throughout Los Angeles. These individuals are
trained to deliver personal messages that are designed to make people think about their
personal responsibility not to transmit the virus. In addition to the dialog that will be generated,
the spokesmodels will be distributing harm reduction supplies to club patrons.
