The Petition
Crystal meth is destroying our community; every day, we see many
people becoming addicted. We learn of too many people becoming HIV
positive because of their crystal methamphetamine use. As a
community, we can no longer let meth continue to devastate our
families, friends and neighbors. We can’t continue to loose our loved
ones to meth.
We call upon our politicians, bureaucrats, community leaders and
citizens to join us in our fight against crystal meth. Let’s take back our
community and our lives.
Our Demands
1. Create and expand state and federal programs to educate health care
professionals to identify, educate and treat methamphetamine addiction.
2. Coordinate and integrate meth prevention, educational and treatment
strategies among local, state and federal HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted
disease, substance abuse, and mental health programs.
3. Fully fund awareness, educational, prevention and treatment efforts.
4. Fund message/intervention research and development of effective social
marketing campaigns to reach at-risk populations.
5. Require large-scale social events, such as circuit parties and community
events,to provide methamphetamine education/prevention.
6. Declare a public health state of emergency in the county of Los Angeles.
